Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan

Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan , the founder of the UAE (1918- 2004) . He was the first president of United Arab Emirates and the ruler of Abu Dhabi. He was born in 1918 in Al Ain , and was elected to be the president of the country and the Chief of High Union Council.

Brief History 1946 he became the ruler of Al Ain City. 6th of August 1966 , he became the Ruler of Abu Dhabi. 21st of October 1969 , he was elected as President of the nine-states-union (including Qatar and Bahrain). 2nd of December 1971 , he was elected President of the UAE. In 1999 , he received the Environment and Development Award.

Sheikh Zayed with Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum , the ruler of Dubai , put together the main pillars of this union by uniting their two Emirates , Abu Dhabi and Dubai , then , they invited the rulers of the other Emirates to join this union, who agreed on the 2nd of December 1971 .

 Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC)

Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan and Sheikh Jaber Al Ahmed Al Sabbah , Ruler of Kuwait , were sharing the same idea of having a council for all the Gulf countries before it came true on 25th of May 1981 in Abu Dhabi.

Zayed’s Demise

H.H Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan died on the 2nd of November 2004 and was succeeded by his son , H.H Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan , President of the UAE and Ruler of Abu Dhabi.

Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum

Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum (1912 - 1990) , Ruler of Dubai since 1958 till his demise on October 7th 1990 . He was the Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and vice-president from 1971 until his demise . He took part in establishing the union with H.H Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan . Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed bin Maktoum was born in 1912 and raised under the care of his father , H.H Sheikh Saeed bin Maktoum Al Maktoum Al Falasi (coming from Al Bu Falasa Tribe)

He received his primary education in Al Ahmediyah Public School , which was established at the beginning of this century in the City of Deira , where H.H Sheikh Rashid was among the pioneer students ,

and here are some of the accomplishments of Sheikh Rashid in the Emirate of Dubai during his rule :

1. Port Rashid launched in 1972
2. Al Shindagha Tunnel opened in 1975
3. Jebel Ali Port in 1979
4. Dubai World Trade Center, built in 1978
5. Dubai Creek second major excavations and widening, early 1970s
6. Dubai Dry-docks, inaugurated in 1983

Sheikh Khalid Bin Mohammed Al Qassimi

Sheikh Khalid Bin Mohammed Bin Saqr Al Qassimi , ruled the Emirate of Sharjah from June 24th 1965 to January 24th 1972 . He started ruling the emirate after Sheikh Saqr bin Sultan Al Qassimi . He participated in the meetings for the formation of the union , representing the Emirate of Sharjah . He signed the interim Constitution on the 2nd of December 1971 , when Sharjah became part of the United Arab Emirates , and joined the Supreme Council of the Union as a member , and headed the Board of rulers of the UAE for one session.

 

Sheikh Rashid Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi

Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi was born in 1902 in the Emirate of Ajman. He was the ruler of Ajman since 1928. He is the founder of the modern Emirate of Ajman. He established Ajman Police in 1967, and participated in the formation of the Union . He signed the interim Constitution on December 2nd 1971, and made Ajman a part of the United Arab Emirates. He joined the Supreme Council of the Union as a member. He died on Sunday , September 6th 1981 , and was succeeded by his son , Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuami.

Sheikh Saqr bin Mohammad al-Qassimi

Sheikh Saqr bin Mohammad al-Qassimi (1920 – 2010) was the ruler of Ras Al Khaimah , from 17th of July 1948 to 27th of October 2010 . Soon after becoming ruler on the 17th of July 1948 , Sheikh Saqr worked on setting up rules and regulations of national unity among the tribes in the emirate. he worked also for the reunification of these tribes and for building interrelations that changed them into a cohesive community. Believing in the role of education in building people and communities , and in creating the awareness of civilization , Sheikh Saqr focused a lot of attention on education and knowledge , and

emphasized on building schools and encouraging the scientific scholarship missions for the dissemination of education all over the Emirate. In the health field , he endeavoured to provide comprehensive health care for everybody in the emirate , he opened the Kuwaiti hospital , and established three modern hospitals in the emirate . In the infrastructure and transportation sector , in the year 1969 Sheikh Saqr launched the paved road between Ras Al Khaimah and Sharjah . In 1976 , he inaugurated the RAK International Airport and the Saqr Port in 1977. Economically , the Emirate has attracted many successful industrial enterprises , that contributed to the process of progress , covering a wide range of industries , like cement , medicine , ceramics and iron . on February 10th 1972 Sheikh Saqr announced Ras al-Khaimah as an member-emirate of the UAE.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad al sharqi

Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad al sharqi is the former ruler of the Emirate of Al Fujairah , he is the father of the current Ruler H.H Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi . He ruled the Emirate of Al Fujairah from 1942 till he passed away on 18th of September 1975 . He witnessed the meetings for establishing the United Arab Emirates in December 1971 and became member of the Supreme Council of the Union.

Sheikh Rashid bin Ahmad Al Mualla

Sheikh Rashid bin Ahmad Al Mualla (1932 – 2009) , the ruler of Umm Al Quwain and member of the Supreme Council from 1981 to 2009 . He was born in Hisn Umm Al-Quwain , and was chosen by his father as a Crown Prince of Umm Al-Quwain. in 1968 Sheikh Rashid was appointed as Director of the municipality. On behalf of his father , Sheikh Ahmed Bin Rashid Al Mu’alla , the ruler of Umm Al-Quwain at that time , and as Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Umm Al-Quwain , Sheikh Rashid was one of the signers of the temporary Constitution of the United Arab Emirates on 2nd of December 1971.

On the 22nd of February1981, he became the ruler of Umm Al-Quwain. During his rule he worked on developing the Emirate through numerous projects . that contributed to the prosperity of life.
